HELP/ FAQ
Why should I check my references?
Because you don’t really know what your
references are saying about you and you don’t
really know why you didn’t get that last job.
Why
should I conduct a background check on myself?
Identity theft is real. Mistakes happen.
It costs you more to remain in the dark.
Records that are supposed to be expunged still
appear; traffic violations can appear as
probation violations; and you may share a name
with someone who is not as honest as you are.
Inaccurate information on your background will
negatively affect your ability to get the job
you want but if you don’t check it you’ll
never know.
What can employers look
for in a background check?
Employers can look for anything you
authorize them to check including your credit,
criminal and educational history.
Why would an employer
check my credit history?
Some employers believe that your credit
history is a reflection of your financial
honesty. While it is impossible to guess how
much this impacts your chances of employment or
how individual debts are viewed, it is accurate
to say that if an employer checks, it matters.
If it matters to them, it should matter to you.
What is Negligent
Hiring?
Negligent hiring is the idea that an
employer can be found financially responsible
for the method they use to hire employees if
that employee goes on to harm someone during
their employment. As a result, employers must
protect themselves by conducting thorough
background checks on every individual they are
considering for employment.
Why should I conduct my own background check
before applying to a state’s bar?
Many licensing boards, including boards that
determine whether they will accept your
application to practice law conduct complete
background checks including credit and criminal
history checks. Any and all negative
information will have to be explained in detail
and unsatisfactory responses will lead to a
denial of your application. This is an aspect
of the process that should not be left to
chance.
What is your “Bird’s eye
view”? How much does it cost?
